Who is it for?
This course is aimed at paddlers who wish to get out, clock up some miles and experience some the of classic sea kayak trips that North Wales has to offer. To join us you should be:
- A fit and competent flat paddler
- Able to turn the boat using edge control and lean rather than paddle strokes
- Able to paddle into the wind, down wind and across the wind
- Have some experience of rough water
- Have effective support strokes and be able to cope with moderate seas
- Fit enough to paddle 10-15 miles per day
Based in the heart of Snowdonia we are surrounded by the sea. Travel
North or west from here and pretty soon you'll come to a stunning
coastline - and with so much to choose from there is no lack in variety. This week is all about mileage - and exploring the great variety we have on our doorstep. Just take a loot at what might be on offer below, but rest assured - with 360 degrees of coastline around Anglesey alone, there is always somewhere perfect to make the most of conditions.
Typical Trips include:
The limestone coast of Llandudno and the Orme: Dramatic coastline, exciting caves, cliffs and seabirds, boulder beaches and a unique 'sea side atmosphere'.
The quartzite coast of Anglesey: See a climbers playground from another perspective. Tidal races, rugged vegetated coastline, and a huge variety of flora and fauna to explore - from the seals of puffin island to the porpoise of the North Coast. Great sandy beaches too!
The wilderness of the Lleyn: Paddle the dramatic coastline on the most exposed penninsula of North Wales. From the pilgrimage to Bardsey Island, the tranquility of the Tudwals to sneaking under 1000ft cliffs on the North Coast. Meet the dolphins of Porth Ceiriad, or surf onto the classic beaches - there is something for everyone.

Customer Reviews For This Course
We had thought very carefully about this course as we weren't sure we'd manage the suggested 10-15 miles. There was no need for concern. I reckon the trips were around 8 miles, & so well planned by Glen that the tide & wind were always helping.
We saw some beautiful scenery, seals, dolphins, porpoises & birds, and experienced a variety of sea states & features. The atmosphere was relaxed & supportive with just enough excitement & exertion to keep it interesting. PYB is not on the coast! This meant AT LEAST an hour in the mini bus each way, each day, through the beautiful scenery of North Wales to get paddling.
The centre is excellent, with a lively, friendly atmosphere. This is our third visit, & as always the food and facilities are first class. And as always the rooms are stiflingly hot and the beds murderously uncomfortable.
Glen (our guide) did no coaching at all (which was great) put us under no pressure (which was great) but kept things moving along. Knowledgeable and entertaining, he felt totally solid, safe & dependable. Some of his stories will stay with me for a very long time!
An excellent week paddling. 5 classic trips, with dolphins, seals, porpoises, cormorants, fulmars and lots of gulls thrown in for good measure. Cliffs, caves, lighthouses and arches, this week had it all, and mostly in glorious sunshine. Even one day paddling without a cag.
Excellent Week's Paddling
Over the five days Sid found varied coastline, one river and lots of waves for us. A really excellent experience.
