Customer Reviews For This Course

Great confidence booster

Kevin Ellis

A great weekend with a skilled, extremely knowledgable instructor, Sid. Finished the weekend with lots of confidence in the water and some new skills to keep me afloat. Thank you! I'll be back!

Great Sea Kayaking

Brian Roberts

Well what can i say? Except what a great weekend with first class accommodation and professional instruction.
Paddling with like minded paddle buddies instructor Sid gently pushed us beyond our comfort zones on some of the big tide races round Anglesey giving plenty of tips on the way .
We had plenty of time for some rock gardening cave exploring and surfing as well so it wasn,t all a white knuckle ride,
A great course for competent relatively fit paddlers who are willing to learn more,,
Next time i find myself in a big tide race i,m sure i won,t find it as intimidating and will just enjoy the ride,

Thank you P.Y.B

We both enjoyed our course

Martin and Sue Spurling

PYB comfortable as usual. Food up to usual standard.
We both enjoyed our course and achieved the main objective which was boosting Sue's confidence. Pity you are so far away from the paddling area and that so much of the course must perforce be spent travelling.
If you decide to organise a Greenland paddling trip (which we gather is a possibility for 2012) we would both be interested if the cost is not too extreme and the trip is reasonably challenging.

Very Good

I booked the course from Australia and when I turned up @ PYB the day before the course was to start and saw lots of young kids, I was apprehensive that I had chosen some "Pussy Paddle" with heaps of screaming kids.
I was pleasently surprised to get out with a group who wanted to push thier skills.
The leader and his offsider were both well skilled for the task and the leaders knowledge of the tides and conditions in the areas where we operated made it a very safe training exercise.

Does what it says on the tin!

I would not have dared to attempt the menacing-looking waves of the North Stack tidal race without the back-up of the instructors. It was a tremendous experience.

Graham Wells

Blue sky, Force 4, NW swell and just after spring tides with the sea all over the place; sounds lovely to look at, but to go there? That is what the course was about - getting competent sea paddlers out there to enjoy it.

Sid and Dave did exactly that. Starting on Saturday in quiet water with confidence building skills, we moved out through the rocks and the spray onto the sea. The first day was all about boat handling in the foam zone next to rocks, feeling the water and learning to be more dynamic and balanced as the sea played with the boat. Sunday was out to the Stacks and Penrhyn Mawr, with some pretty messed up water. White knuckle stuff? Yes but with the skills and the confidence from the day before and the quiet advice that was right to the point we paddled through and all stayed upright and loved it.And there was time to sit in caves and coves and look at seabirds and yarn. This is clearly an introductory course for those who want to go further, laying a really solid foundation for future days, whether those days involve crazy stuff in big water or coping with a sudden deterioration in the sea state on an expedition. Only 2 days but it was physically hard work and I certainly felt it on Monday - that's a good lesson, too, get fit to paddle. Wonderful weather, lovely course, pleasant company, inspiring coaches, real progress; what more could one ask for? Thanks.
