Detailed Course Notes

You should be 18 years old to attend this course.

Is it for me?

Have you discovered the joy of paddlesports? Are you keen to help others do the same? Then this is the ideal starting point. If you intend to coach others from a boat you'll need to demonstrate a good BCU 2 star standard of personal skills so that you can move effectively on the water to keep your students safe and demonstrate the basic skills of paddlesports to them. So if you've held your BCU 2* and have had time to consolidate the skills then you'll be ready. If, however, you'd rather only coach from the bank or shore then you won't need the BCU 2* award. You don't need to hold a first aid certificate to do this course but this is recommended for when you're out coaching

Pre-requisites

British Canoing strictly requires that all students are registered prior to commencing the course. They will not allow non-registered participants to undertake the course.

You will need to register with either Canoe England, Canoe Wales, Canoe Scotland or Canoe Association of Northern Ireland by completing a CR Form.

Plus:

Hold 2 Star and be able to demonstrate these skills paddling a kayak and solo canoe

Completed pre-course tasks in your Level 1 folder

First Aid Certificate (highly recommended but not required)

You will need to bring your Level 1 folder and all your supporting paperwork with you (CR form, certificates etc.)
