John Cousins (February)
No set of nature notes for Wales is complete without the national flower, the daffodil (helped perhaps by the fact that the scourge of all plant life, the ever present sheep, doesn't like them!).
There is currently a great display on the verges of the main Coast road if you come to Plas y Brenin from the North and we have quite a few like these in the grounds. There are many garden variants but the native species (narcissus psuedonarcissus) has pale yellow inner 'trumpet' and a golden yellow outer.
