Refurbishing the Kitchen
John Cousins (May)
Just as I started to get used to no 'woolly maggots' in Cwm Idwal a load of new white blobs have appeared below the Devil's Kitchen. They are easily visible along the path in this photo I took a couple of days ago.
This time they are not plant-munching sheep but bags full of rocks brought in to repair the track. In my view the National Trust do a good job of path construction and repair. They avoid using alien materials such as plastic piping or coated metal cages and are pretty conscientious about minimising materials brought in from outside. However, Cwm Idwal is now designated as a Special Area of Conservation and as such the path menders can no longer use the local stone for their work, hence the helicopter bags.
