We're lucky to have such a variety of birdlife in and around the lake here at Plas y Brenin.
This regular visitor, the Common Sandpiper, lends its distinctive three-note call to our early morning orchestra with striking effect.
The sandpiper can be recognised from a distance by its continual bobbing up and down as it feeds on tiny insects.
In flight the Sandpiper can be distinguished by its stiff bowed wings.
