Dead-Nettle Leaf Beetle (Chrysolina fastuosa)
Rob Spencer (July)
We saw this Dead-Nettle Leaf Beetle during our Alpine Apprenticeship week.
You can find them quite easily in the Alps by looking in half-shaded moist places like as hedgerows and along forest paths. They feed on species of nettles and can be a particularly voracious feeder. Although they are widespread across Southern Europe, if you are very lucky you may come across one of these beautiful brightly coloured beetles in Southern England.
