Lucinda Manouch (August)
I spotted this Jay in the woods at the bottom of Plas y Brenin's Garden yesterday.
A Jay is the most colourful of the crow family but their wary nature means their colours are seldom seen to best effect. They have a pinkish buff body, black and white chequered parts and a stricking blue, black and white streak on their wings. They are easily identified by their call. In welsh they are called 'Screch Y Coed' which translates to scream of the forest, which is just how they sound.
