Stephen Venables Presentation - 16th March
15 Jan 2013
On march the 16th At Plas y Brenin, Stephen Venebles will be giving a special s5th anniversary presentation of 'Everest The Hard Way'.
The 1988 Anglo-American-Canadian expedition was a landmark Everest climb: just four climbers, with no high altitude porters and no supplementary oxygen, forging a spectacular new route up the Kangshung Face. Stephen Venables became the first Briton to reach the summit without oxygen and in the process established a new record for the highest solo bivouac. Reinhold Messner called it 'probably the most adventurous ascent in Everest's history'. In this special anniversary presentation the four climbers - Venables, Robert Anderson, Paul Teare and Ed Webster - will be reunited for the first time in 25 years.
