Overview

Our goal is to equip you with the skills and judgement needed to lead paddlers, regardless of their experience level, on advanced white water. You’ll have the capability to choose suitable environments for paddlers with varying levels of expertise. Expect to spend the majority of your time navigating advanced rivers ranging from grade 3-4(5). We’ll expose you to different river styles, such as tight and technical routes and larger volumes, depending on water levels. Additionally, we’ll dedicate two days to covering the Advanced White-water Safety and Rescue syllabus. You’ll leave with a personalized action plan to guide you towards a successful assessment.

Objectives

At this level, you will demonstrate not only personal skill proficiency but also leadership, adaptability, and sound decision-making. Your ability to lead paddlers in diverse white-water conditions is a key objective. By the end of this programme, you should be well-prepared for your Advanced White Water Leader Assessment.

Itinerary

Prior kayaking experience is a prerequisite for attending this course. Expect an intensive, hands-on experience that will enhance your leadership and safety skills, setting you on the path to becoming an Advanced White Water Leader.

You’ll be spending most of your time on advanced rivers of grade 3-4(5). We’ll aim to get you on different styles of river e.g. tight and technical and bigger volume, depending on water levels. We’ll also spend two days covering the Advanced White-water Safety and Rescue syllabus.

Experience Required

  • Some experience of paddling in advanced White-water conditions.
  • Competent Grade III paddler with some experience of Grade IV.
  • A reliable moving water roll.
