Prepare for a dynamic two-day Open Water Canoe Coach Training course, set against the stunning backdrop of North Wales’ top open water environments. This course is designed to bridge your core coach training with the advanced open water setting, offering invaluable guidance for those working towards the Open Water Canoe Coach Award (Advanced Water) Qualification. Even if you’re not pursuing the qualification, you’ll gain practical insights to fuel your ongoing learning and development.

Our primary goal is to equip you with essential knowledge and skills to excel in advanced open water canoeing. By the end of the course, you’ll have gained invaluable guidance, honed your coaching abilities, and crafted a personal action plan for further development or assessment.

Itinerary
On day one, we’ll immerse you in applying your Core Coach Training principles to the advanced open water, both in solo and tandem boats. Expect to navigate challenging conditions, including paddling into, across, and down winds exceeding force 4. Day two will focus on evaluating your coaching skills, with feedback provided to refine your action plan for assessment or further coaching enhancements.

Experienced Required
Prior to your Coach Award Assessment you must have completed a number of prerequisites; | | Full Home Nation Association Membership | Core Coach Training| Advanced Canoe Leader Award | Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills. | We recommend that you’re able to demonstrate the skills of the skills you’ve developed from the Advanced Canoe Leader award. | You’ll also need good knowledge of the discipline Advanced Open Water canoeing, as this provides the content of what you’ll be coaching.
How Should I Prepare?
To make the most of these two days, ensure you’ve had recent canoeing experience, including handling winds up to force 4/5. This course is designed for those ready to tackle advanced open water paddling challenges and elevate their skills in the process.
