Welcome to our White Water Canoe Coach Training Course, designed to bring the theory and practice of core coaching skills to life in the dynamic white water environment. Over two days, we’ll delve into the ‘White Water Canoe Coach’ syllabus, equipping you with essential knowledge and skills to prepare for assessment.

Our primary objective is to provide you with invaluable guidance and hands-on experience to support your journey towards achieving the prestigious Open Water Canoe Coach Award Qualification. If you’re not pursuing this qualification, don’t worry; you’ll still benefit from practical insights and guidance to enhance your continuous learning and development.

Itinerary

Day one of the course will immerse you in applying Coach Core behaviours in the context of moderate white water settings. You’ll gain practical experience and insights into coaching techniques. On day two, you’ll put these principles into action during a coaching session, receiving valuable feedback from peers, observations, and our experienced trainers. We’ll conclude the course with an action planning session, equipping you with a clear path forward, whether you’re working towards qualification or personal growth in white water canoe coaching.

Experience Required

Prior to attending the course you must have completed a number of prerequisites;

  • Full Home Nation Association Membership
  • Core Coach Training
  • Canoe Leader Award

Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the the course is on coaching skills. We also recommend that you’re able to demonstrate the skills you’ve developed from the Canoe Leader award. You’ll also need good knowledge of the discipline of white water canoeing, as this provides the content of what you’ll be coaching.
