Overview

During this 5 day course, we’ll develop the skills required to lead others in a grade 2/3 environment. 

Attending the course will result in you becoming a more confident leader, possessing the necessary personal paddling, rescue, safety, leadership, and group skills required for this award. This course brings you one step closer to becoming a White Water Kayak Leader and equips you with effective leadership techniques and boat control in real white water situations.
Two days of the course will be spent covering the British Canoeing White Water Safety award.
We’ll ensure you leave the course with a clear picture of the assessment standard, what an assessment looks like and a clear action plan towards your assessment.

Objectives

The course will help you to achieve the skills and know-how to lead a group in moderate white water conditions.
You’ll develop a deeper understanding of paddling conditions and group dynamics.
Become proficient in evaluating situations and making decisive, informed choices.
Gain confidence in your personal paddling, rescue, safety, leadership, and group skills.
Cover the Whitewater Safety and Rescue (WWSR) syllabus to enhance your rescue techniques.

What To Expect

Your learning journey is broken down into two key components. For the first three days, we’ll immerse you in Grade 2/3 white water, focusing on honing your leadership skills and personal paddling. The final two days will cover the Whitewater Safety award, giving you a well-rounded education in both leadership and safety. Expect an enriching, hands-on experience that prepares you for the challenges and thrills of leading in moderate white water conditions.

Experience Required

You should be confident paddling in the grade 2-3 environment, you should have or be working towards a white water roll and be physically fit for an intensive 5 day course. 

How Should I Prepare?

You’ll need to be on top of your game for this training course. Make sure that you’re fit enough for five challenging days on white water. You should also have kayaked on grade 2-3 regularly before attending.
