Overview
This weekend canoeing course is designed as a fun and thorough introduction to the sport. Participants will begin with an introduction and equipment orientation, followed by hands-on learning of foundation strokes.
The course covers everything from choosing appropriate clothing and equipment to learning basic rescue skills. Both solo and tandem paddling will be explored, and by the end of the weekend, participants will have all the foundational skills needed to confidently continue in canoeing.
The goal is to enable students to competently handle an open boat as part of a tandem team, employing techniques and navigation skills for a safe journey.

What to Expect
On day one, you’ll have a course introduction and outline, we’ll issue your equipment and then get straight into learning the foundation strokes. On day two, you’ll have more coaching during a short journey, both solo and tandem. We finish with a course debrief and equipment return.
Experience Required
You should be water confident and able to swim.
How Should I Prepare?
You need to be fit enough to enjoy two full days of activity. You don’t need to do any other specific preparation, just bring your desire to learn some skills and how to enjoy open-boating safely.
