Overview

This 3 day course is for anyone who has had an introduction to sea kayaking already and would like to have a fantastic guided sea kayaking holiday while boosting the experience and clock up the miles. You'll take on a different journey each day, enjoying the breath-taking coastal scenery of Anglesey, North Wales and the Lleyn Peninsula, taking in some of the Welsh classics along the way, spectacular sea cliffs, beautiful islands and the abundance of wildlife that will make this a week to remember. Don't forget to bring your camera.

The aim is simple - enjoy some awesome sea kayaking in the company of other enthusiasts whilst being guided by some of the best in the business.

Itinerary

Typical Trips Include

The limestone coast of Llandudno and the Orme: Dramatic coastline, exciting caves, cliffs and seabirds, boulder beaches and a unique 'seaside atmosphere'.

The quartzite coast of Anglesey: See a climber's playground from another perspective. Tidal races, rugged vegetated coastline, and a huge variety of flora and fauna to explore - from the seals of puffin island to the porpoise of the North Coast. Great sandy beaches too!

The wilderness of the Lleyn: Paddle the dramatic coastline on the most exposed peninsula of North Wales. From the pilgrimage to Bardsey Island, the tranquillity of the Tudwals to sneaking under 1000 ft cliffs on the North Coast. Meet the dolphins of Porth Ceiriad, or surf onto the classic beaches - there is something for everyone.

Experience Required

Sea kayaking experience, and a good level of fitness that enables you to paddle all day on the water.

This means if you’re just starting out, there’s no need to rush out and buy a load of expensive gear, and if you’re already pretty well kitted-out, it’s a great chance to try something new.

What do I need to bring?
All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear e.g. costume for under a wetsuit, thermal and fleece layer for the top. In addition, some suitable footwear that will fit comfortably in a kayak and lace up to keep them on in the water. Our stores have a wide range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles for you to use. We have an extensive selection of different styles of kayaks from a range of manufacturers. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring along your own kit. A hat to protect you from the heat or the cold may be useful, as would suncream, a dry bag for your lunch, a waterproof camera to capture some memories and a water bottle that can be accessed easily throughout the day. The hydration packs that can be accessed whilst paddling are really useful for this e.g. Camelbak
How should I prepare?
You should have sea kayaked fairly recently, and in winds of up to force 4 to get the most from this five days of paddling.
