Mountain Equipment and Plas y Brenin Set for 20 Year Partnership as contract renews

Longstanding Partnership, Shared Passion for the Outdoors

Plas y Brenin, the National Outdoor Centre has agreed a further 28-month extension to its longstanding partnership with Mountain Equipment, the Manchester based technical outdoor clothing and equipment specialist.

Starting this month, the agreement continues a valued relationship that was first established in 2004 and will see Mountain Equipment continue to equip their instructional team and centre staff with a wide range of technical clothing and accessories. The two will also work together to deliver a series of co-hosted training and promotional events, starting with a series of Winter Skills webinars in November.

Mountain Equipment, which was founded in 1961 has built an unrivalled reputation throughout its sixty-year history for designing and manufacturing the very best technical outdoor clothing and equipment. It is this expertise which has ensured they will continue to be the clothing brand of choice for the climbing and mountaineering instructional team at Plas y Brenin, ensuring they can operate safely and in comfort when delivering outdoor training in challenging and unpredictable weather.

Throughout the 17-year collaboration, the Plas y Brenin team has consistently provided regular feedback which has helped to inform the development of both existing and new products, a process which is set to continue.

Rob Spencer, Operations Manager, commented: “We’re delighted to be building on our longstanding relationship with Mountain Equipment. For almost two decades they have been our brand of choice. Their clothing range is second to none – offering everything our team could need, for all conditions and without compromising on safety or comfort. We look forward to developing the partnership by combining our areas of expertise to cocreate a series of training and promotional events.”

Richard Talbot, Product and Marketing Director at Mountain Equipment said: “Plas y Brenin provides us with a unique, unmatched and valuable partnership. Now in its 17th year, our relationship has been built around a shared passion and respect for the mountains and outdoor sports – something which goes far beyond a simple commercial sponsorship agreement. Plas y Brenin is a mainstay of our outdoor community and provides us not only with access to a world-class instructional team and unique testing ground for our products but also a valuable tool to help educate, inform and inspire our customers.”
