Mo Barclay – Instructor

I work as an instructor at Plas Y Brenin giving people skills to tackle mainly land-based outdoor activities; climbing, biking, hiking. I have on occasion been seen in a boat, sometimes under the boat, or floating next to the boat!

The thing I like most about my job is encouraging people to ‘try hard’, whether that’s for the first time at something new, developing skills to go further afield or to push people to do things they didn’t realise they could achieve, opening a door to adventures.

  • Mountaineering Instructor Certificate

  • British Cycling Mountain Bike Leader Award

  • Sports Science and Exercise Immunology degree

I’m lucky enough to have climbed and biked all over the world. Of all the mountains I’ve climbed the biggest achievements for me are the ones you get knocked back by but have to grab the learning from, and be determined to try again and not give up.

Future aspirations:

In a dream world, I’d love to cycle around the world! How cool would it be to be self-propelled from your back door halfway around the world and back via a whole bunch of culture and people and places that make you go wow the world is awesome.  Might make a nice retirement plan!
