Imagine returning to the mountain where you nearly lost your life. That’s exactly what mountaineer Nigel Vardy did ,25 years after a harrowing rescue on Denali.
In 1999, Nigel suffered catastrophic frostbite high on Denali, one of the coldest mountains on Earth. His injuries led to the loss of his fingers, toes, heels, and nose. His rescue set altitude records, and his recovery journey led him into a world of amputations, skin grafts, and immense physical and mental adaptation.
But Nigel was determined not to let the mountains go. He rebuilt his life, returned to high places, and now inspires others with his story. From climbing in the world’s great ranges to taking up sea kayaking, he has never stopped exploring.
In 2024, Nigel returned to Alaska not just to stand once more on Denali’s snow, but to reunite with the medical staff and rescuers who helped save his life. This remarkable journey has been captured in the powerful new documentary Frostbitten, which is now making its way through international film festivals.
Join us on 28th June, 8–9pm, for a moving and honest evening with Nigel as he shares the story behind Frostbitten — a story of survival, resilience, and returning full circle.
