Adventures in the Scottish Highlands with Dave Evans
This inspirational talk from one of Plas y Brenin’s senior instructors, covers his many adventures in the Scottish Highlands.
After starting to climb in the mountains of Scotland with his parents as a child, Dave has spent his entire life exploring wild corners of this beautiful country and would love to share his experiences with you.
Aimed at anyone inspired to seek out climbing adventures within the shores of the United Kingdom, this talk will cover everything from summer cragging to big mountains, sea cliffs to winter mixed climbing and ice. Scotland has it all and more.
Dave is Head of Mountaineering and Climbing at Plas y Brenin. He has been an instructor at the centre for almost two decades and works entirely in the mountaineering department on the full range of recreational and instructional courses – everything from introductory walking and leadership to Mountaineering Instructor.
Dave has been “hillwalking, scrambling, climbing and mountaineering since before he can remember”. His family holidays were generally in Scotland, the Lake District or Snowdonia, and later in the French Alps. He is also a keen skier starting at the age of seven. In the last fifteen years, Dave has climbed all over the world, from America to China and Big Walls to Alpine North Faces but says that he is still most motivated by UK Trad rock climbing.
