You want to engage and inspire climbers when you’re teaching them foundation skills so that they’ll become as passionate about the sport as you are.
Our one day Mountain Training accredited Foundation Coach training course focuses on three main areas;
Foundation Coach training is designed to enable you to be more effective in coaching the fundamental movement skills of climbing.

The course is run in line with the syllabus laid out by Mountain Training and covers; coaching behaviours, planning, preparations, managing, sporting values, movement skills, physiology, reflective practice, feedback, evaluating and technical competence.
Prior to attending a Foundation Coach training course you must;
Coaches must be appropriately experienced and qualified to supervise safe sessions in the environment in which they choose to coach, e.g. a site specific sign-off by a Technical Advisor for bouldering; Climbing Wall Instructor for roped climbing; Climbing Wall Development Instructor for coaching lead climbing, and Rock Climbing Instructor to coach on single pitch crags etc.
Note: Our instructors will assess any safety equipment you bring with you. If they consider it to be below the required standard, you will be asked to use equipment provided free of charge by Plas y Brenin.
