This assessment is designed to gauge your leadership capabilities in canoes within the moderate water environment, adhering to the guidelines provided by British Canoeing. It’s a comprehensive evaluation that encompasses various aspects of leadership and technical expertise required for safe and effective canoeing.
A two-day assessment in line with the BCAB (British Canoeing Awarding Body) Canoe Leader assessment in the white water environment. You’ll be assessed on necessary skills to a standard set by the governing body. This includes personal paddling skills, leadership skills, rescues, technical knowledge and group management.
Over two days, your leadership skills will be thoroughly assessed on local rivers in North Wales. The assessment aims to ensure that you meet the necessary standards and can confidently lead in the specified canoeing environment. This evaluation serves as a crucial step in obtaining your Canoe Leader qualification.
Before the assessment, make sure to register with your home nation to meet the prerequisites. You should also be comfortable with your abilities in the required canoeing environment. Expect an in-depth assessment that covers personal skills, leadership qualities, rescue techniques, technical knowledge, and group management. This assessment is a valuable opportunity to demonstrate your competence as a canoe leader in the white water context.
