The weather in Eryri can be unpredictable.

Let us take some of that uncertainty out of that.

With our unrivalled views of Yr Wyddfa from our base in the heart of Eryri National Park, North Wales, we’re perfectly placed to keep an eye on the conditions before you head out on your adventures. (Webcam coming soon!)

The information below is sourced from trusted third parties and should be used as part of your own decision-making.

Every morning, our instructors meet and compare what they’re seeing outside with multiple weather forecasts, drawing on years of local knowledge to build a picture of the day ahead. They take into consideration how conditions change with altitude, for example wind speed is usually greater and the temperature is cooler the higher you go.

Plans are openly discussed, experience shared and everyone contributes to each other’s goals for the day. At the end of the day, we get together again (with tea and cake, obviously!) to reflect, learn and prepare for tomorrow.

We recommend you do the same. Don’t rely on just one forecast and remember that conditions can change rapidly in the mountains. The best decisions come from using every bit of information available.

River Level on Afon Llugwy above Jim's Bridge

NOTE: 14/07/2026 The river gauge is currently under maintenance. These readings may not be accurate.

The river gauge is located upstream of Jim’s Bridge on the Afon Llugwy, downstream of the confluence with the Nant y Gwryd. It was installed and maintained thanks to funding from North Wales Kayakers. Over the winter we will add some images to help illustrate how the gauge corresponds to the river level.
