Overview

Welcome to our two-day Advanced Sea Kayak Leader Assessment, set amidst the breath-taking coastlines of North Wales. This assessment aims to rigorously evaluate your abilities, including personal paddling skills, leadership capabilities, and rescue proficiencies, in demanding open water environments, including tide races, surf, and challenging journeys. Our goal is to determine your readiness to lead paddlers with a range of experience, including advanced tidal waters, and assess your judgment in selecting appropriate environments for diverse groups.

Objectives

The primary objective of this assessment is to thoroughly test your skill level, leadership capacity, and decision-making ability in sea kayaking scenarios, particularly in advanced conditions. It will assess your competence to lead paddlers with varying experience levels, up to and including advanced tidal water conditions. To succeed, you’ll need to demonstrate sound judgment in choosing suitable environments for paddlers with diverse backgrounds.
