The Core Coach Training is open to all paddlers regardless your discipline or previous coaching experience. This two- day course will provide you with structure for your coaching ensuring your learners get the most from time on the water with you. This is a practical based course designed to help you learn coaching theories and practice through hands on application, developing you as a coach.
Whether you’re looking for a stand-alone course to improve your coaching practice or are on the journey to becoming a British Canoeing Coach in your chosen discipline this course is for anyone looking to progress their coaching practice further.
The objective is for you to understand different approaches to coaching, how to enable learning for your participants, adding structure and learning the who, what, why and how of coaching.
We’ll support you in evolving your personal coaching development plan to enable you to take your learning into practice after the course.
On day 1 we’ll spend our time going between the classroom and the water outside the centre. We’ll talk through current coaching practices, then head down to the water to put them into practice.
The day ends with a session planning exercise to apply content covered into a session on day 2.
Day 2 will be spent predominantly on the water where you’ll run a coaching session. We’ll dive into coaches’ decision making and how we create an optimum learning environment for our learners.
At the end of the day, we’ll give you a clear plan to help you progress towards the coach award in your chosen craft.
To get the most out of your practical core coach training, you need to feel comfortable in or on your craft and be able to independently paddle on sheltered water.
You need to have Full Home Nation Association Membership prior to attending.
You should also have paddled regularly before attending.
