Welcome to our Open Water Canoe Coach Training, a transformative two-day experience that bridges your Core Coach training with the unique challenges of open water canoeing. Whether you’re aiming for the prestigious Open Water Canoe Coach Award Qualification or seeking practical guidance for personal development, this course is tailored to your needs.

Our main goal is to equip you with invaluable insights and skills to pave the way towards attaining the Open Water Canoe Coach Award Qualification. Regardless of your qualification goals, you’ll leave with a tailored action plan to facilitate ongoing growth and development in your coaching journey.

Itinerary
On day one, we’ll immerse you in applying your Core Coach Training principles in the moderate open water environment, practicing both solo and tandem canoeing. Expect to tackle various conditions, including paddling into, across, and down winds of up to force 4. On day two, we’ll assess your coaching abilities, providing constructive feedback to help you fine-tune your action plan for assessment or further coaching improvements.

Experience Required
Prior to your Coach Award Assessment you must have completed a number of prerequisites; | | Full Home Nation Association Membership | Core Coach Training | Canoe Leader Award | Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills. | We also recommend that you’re able to demonstrate the skills you’ve developed from the Canoe Leader award. | You’ll also need good knowledge of the discipline Open Water canoeing, as this provides the content of what you’ll be coaching.
How To Prepare
To make the most of this course, it’s essential to be physically fit and have sharp paddling skills, as it involves active participation in challenging conditions. Ideally, you should also have recent experience coaching open canoes.
