BCAB Sea Kayak Leader Training

Overview

Embark on our two-day training course, a comprehensive package that encompasses both ‘Sea Kayak Leader Training’ and ‘Coastal Navigation and Tide Planning.’ The primary objective is to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for sea kayak leadership while also completing the Coastal Navigation Module. By the end of this programme, you’ll be well-prepared for your sea kayak assessment and have a personalised action plan to further your development as a leader.

Itinerary

On the first day, you’ll start in the classroom, focusing on the Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning module. Over the subsequent four days, you’ll engage in a series of journeys along the picturesque North Wales coastline. These journeys will involve practical exercises in leadership, personal skill development, safety, and rescue techniques. You’ll also apply your knowledge from the Coastal Navigation course by participating in the planning of each day’s journey.

Experience Required

You should have some experience of paddling in moderate sea conditions.

How Should I Prepare?

You should be an active paddler and ensure you’re fit enough for two days of demanding activity.

Note: Our instructors will assess any safety equipment you bring with you. If they consider it to be below the required standard, you will be asked to use equipment provided free of charge by Plas y Brenin.
