Overview
Embark on our two-day training course, a focused programme dedicated to the ‘Sea Kayak Leader Training’ syllabus. The primary objective is to equip you with the technical skills, tactical decision-making, and leadership strategies needed to manage groups in moderate sea conditions. By the end of this programme, you’ll have a clear understanding of the assessment standards and a personalised action plan to further your development as a leader.
Objectives
Our main goal is to provide you with a high-quality leadership training experience. This training aims to bring you closer to readiness for your Sea Kayak Leader assessment through practical application of leadership models, safety protocols, and personal skill refinement. We focus on building your confidence to lead others safely and effectively on coastal journeys.
Itinerary
Please note: The itinerary is subject to weather conditions and group needs.
Experience Required
You should be an active paddler with experience in moderate sea conditions. You should be fit enough for two full days of demanding activity on the water.
How Should I Prepare?
Ensure you are familiar with the British Canoeing Sea Kayak Leader syllabus. Being current with your personal skills (such as efficient forward paddling and basic rescues) will allow you to focus more effectively on the leadership aspects of the course.
What’s Included?
Note: Our instructors will assess any safety equipment you bring with you. If they consider it to be below the required standard, you will be asked to use equipment provided free of charge by Plas y Brenin.
