Experience Required
You should have; | | Full Home Nation Association Membership | Core Coach Training | u00a0| Your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills. British Canoeing has provided a checklist to help you review your skills. This can be found in Appendix 3 of the Coach Course Guide, which can be found at https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/.u00a0At the point of attending your Sheltered Water Training, we recommend that of the skills listed in the British Canoeing Guidance, most are ‘always’ or ‘sometimes’ present in your performance. This strong base of personal skills should then set you up well to focus on developing your coaching practice. You will need good knowledge of the discipline(s) you wish to coach as this provides the content of WHAT you will be coaching. Prior to training, boat-based coaches should ensure that their personal skills (and leadership skills) are well practised. This allows you to focus on developing your ‘coaching’ rather than your ‘paddling’.
How Should I Prepare?
To make the most of this training, it’s essential to be an active paddler.
