Overview
We’ll chat through where your climbing’s at and focus on the areas you’d specifically like to work on. Our extensive local knowledge will allow us to pick the best routes for you to meet your aims and of course, have fun climbing. There’s a huge variety of amazing climbing all within a short drive of Plas y Brenin, rest assured you’ll cover lots of these two days. Ready? We are!
Who’s This Aimed At?
Climbers come on this course for a number of reasons: building confidence; pushing grades; or to have a bit of a climbing MOT. You’ll need previous experience of leading trad routes, and want to climb somewhere between V Diff and VS. You’ll only lead routes we’ve all agreed will suit you, and that you’d like to climb – we won’t push you to do anything you don’t want to! What Your Course May Look Like
Every course is unique as we tailor each one to the team and the weather, but this should give a flavour of what you might get up to.
Saturday
- Informal welcome chat with our staff and your course members;
- Chat about picking the best crag with our staff and your course members;
- Head to a single pitch crag and either second routes or mock lead them (placing gear but with the safety of a top rope) to get a feel for where everyone’s at;
- Coaching of movement skills, gear placement and belay construction;
- More climbing;
- Return to PYB for tea and cake!
Sunday
- Visit a different crag and rock type, either single or multi-pitch, dependent upon the weather and what the team’s after;
- Develop and consolidate the previous day’s learning;
- Get on ‘the sharp end’ and lead some routes with an instructor ascending a fixed rope alongside;
- Climb fun routes with coaching along the way;
- Return to PYB for more tea and cake, and a fond farewell.
