Course Breakdown

Overview

Welcome to a five-day rock climbing course tailored for young climbers aged 12-17 who are ready to make the leap from indoor walls to outdoor rock. In the picturesque surroundings of North Wales, our friendly, enthusiastic, and highly qualified instructors will guide you on a journey towards becoming a self-sufficient outdoor climber. You’ll discover the intricacies of climbing on different rock types, refine your technique, and confront the unique challenges of outdoor climbing. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to try thrilling climbing-related activities, such as sea-level traversing, gorge walking, and scrambling. You’ll leave this course well-prepared and enthusiastic about tackling outdoor crags with confidence.

The Objectives

During this course, our primary objectives are to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to confidently climb outdoors. You’ll learn in a supportive and friendly environment, alongside fellow young climbers who share your passion. Over five days, you’ll develop as a climber and gain invaluable practical experience in outdoor climbing.

Itinerary

The week begins with outdoor bouldering and single-pitch climbs, which are less than one rope length high. As your skills progress, we’ll move on to larger multi-pitch crags, exploring as many different types of crags as possible to provide you with diverse climbing experiences. We’ll cover essential topics such as climbing equipment, knots, and rope techniques, belaying from the bottom and top of the crag, abseiling, outdoor safety practices, using guidebooks, and where to find valuable climbing information. After completing the course, you’ll be well-prepared to continue your climbing journey outdoors. T

Experience Required

To get the most from this experience, it’s essential that you have prior indoor climbing experience and a basic understanding of top-rope systems and belaying. This course is designed to take your climbing skills to new heights and help you embrace the exciting world of outdoor climbing.
