The climb up from Llanberis will take between 2.5 and 3.5 hours to reach the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), it’ll be worth it when you get there! There are three options for decent: The Llanberis path offers the shortest and fastest decent with plenty of flow The Snowdon Rager path poses a technical riding challenge at the top turning into a fast flowing trail towards the bottom The Rydd Ddu path offers lots of exposure with the path leading you along the south ridge off the summit. This route then provides a mixture of good technical riding and flowing decent. Our mountain bike guides will decide the route on the day, it will depend on the experience of the riders and the weather on the day. We will aim to get to the top of Snowdon, however, the weather is beyond our control and getting to the summit is not always possible. In this case it is normally possible to do some of the route and fill the rest of the day with some alternative Snowdonia classic mountain biking.
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and England. The distance to the top is not a huge distance but is a tough one. With nearly 1000 meters of ascent including some riding and some pushing, it normally takes between 2.5 – 3.5 to reach the summit. A good level of fitness is required. You will need to be competent riding red graded trail in a variety of locations, meaning you will be happy riding the majority of the decent. You may have to push the odd section. There are sections on the descent that are more challenging than the average black graded trail centre. If you are competent on this sort of terrain then you will be able to ride most, if not all of the route.
You need to be fairly fit and have recent mileage on your bike.
