Overview
An excellent addition to the International Mountain Leader (IML), UIAGM Guide Carnet, Wilderness first responder or Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician working on expedition that may encounter flowing water hazards.
The Objectives
This course will provide the expedition leader with the skills and tools to manage water hazards. The course is also highly suitable for those operating in remote and wilderness areas around the globe.
What to Expect
The 2-day course is practically based with theory elements covered in a series of web based seminars and work shops. During the practical elements we’ll examine river crossing techniques, safe swimming techniques and simple rescue solutions with typical expedition equipment. Opportunity to experience river crossing in expedition equipment will be integrated to the course, training will also inclulde full water PPE for the majority of training during the course.
Experience Required
- A confident, capable swimmer;
- Good level of fitness;
- Capable of leading an expedition;
- Experience of trekking/expedition leadership outside of country of domicile.
How Should I Prepare?
A good general level of fitness will help you get the most out of this course, but your instructor will always ensure the pace of the groupo is set so tha everyone is getting the most out of their training.
