This training will help to develop your technical knowledge and will aid you in applying the content covered in the Core Coach award to coaching paddlers in a sheltered water environment. You’ll leave with an action plan to advance your coaching skills and help you to prepare for the sheltered water coach assessment.

Whether you’re working towards Coach Award Qualifications or seeking practical guidance for ongoing learning and development, this course offers valuable insights. You’ll explore coaching theories and practices, aligning with British Canoeing standards, and leave equipped with an action plan to enhance your coaching journey.
The training unfolds over two days, with day one dedicated to applying Coach Core behaviours in sheltered water settings. On day two, you’ll put these principles into practice during a coaching session, receiving peer feedback, observation, and trainer guidance. The course culminates with an action planning session to prepare you for future assessments and continued development.
Familiarise yourself with the content covered in Coach Core training and the British Canoeing skills checklist beforehand. This preparation ensures you get the most value from the course, enhancing your coaching skills and knowledge in sheltered water environments.
You’ll spend day one applying the Coach Core behaviours to the sheltered water environment. On day two, you’ll apply these principles practically as part of a coaching session. You’ll have peer feedback and observation as well as trainer feedback. We’ll then finish with an action planning session to prepare you for assessment.
You should have:
Full Home Nation Association Membership, Core Coach Training and your personal paddling skills should be well developed so that the full focus of the course is on coaching skills.
To make the most of this training ensure you have a high level of competency in your craft in sheltered water environments. Look back over the content covered in your core coach training.
